Just got that cute puppy picked out from the litter? Great! Now all you need is a cute puppy name to match. Selecting a puppy name is like selecting the name for your baby, you are going to have to live with the name for the next 10-15 years (or longer if you are lucky) so better put some real thought into it and make it a good one. In selecting a puppy name, be sure to think through the following tips:
- Easy to Learn: Remember, whatever name you pick is something that your little pup will have to learn and respond to. So, be sure to pick a name that is easy to learn.
- Doesn’t Sound Like Common Sayings in your House: Remember, your pup will come running whenever you say his name (or something that sounds close to it). That being the case, be sure to pick a name that is easily distinguishable from common things you say on an everyday basis. For example, if your hubby’s name is John by all means don’t name your puppy Don (or anything that sounds like John). The last thing you want is the pup to come running every time you are screaming at your husband to take the trash out
. - Cute: By all means, please please please pick a name that is cute! You selected the most beautiful pup in the litter so be sure to give it a name that matches!
If you need some help with names, below are my three favorite names for a boy puppy:
- Ace
- Beau
- Champ
